Seems to me the hardest part of group fitness (if you've never been before) is just walking in the door. So many things run through your mind: "Will I look like I don't belong?", "Will I be able to do the work?", "They all know each other, I'm an outsider!". How do you walk through the door the first time? Here's how: Grab a schedule and pick something that sounds FUN, then grab a towel & water bottle and GO. Introduce yourself to the Instructor, tell them your fitness level & experience. I guarantee you they will take good care of you and give lots of cues & level appropriate options! Will you ace it the first time? NO, but hopefully you'll try again, it takes at least 2 or 3 times to a class to catch the moves, lingo and comfort level with surroundings, don't give up on just one try! If you didn't like the format (the kind of class), pick the next fun thing on the schedule and try it until you find what YOU like, everyone has different workouts they love. The key to success in group fitness is attending classes you love, then you never like to miss it. Remember, everyone had a first time to a class, even the Instructor! Take it from a participant who started out by hiding in the back of class and worked her way all the way to the front with a microphone, EVERYONE is welcome in group fitness, it's about the GROUP! So, join us and be fit, be connected, make friends & get YOUR workout on!!
